Satire: Indian Cricketers play Secret Santa
After a commanding show in the first Test that surprised their fans and critics, the Indian cricketers enjoyed a much deserved break by playing Secret Santa, a game where by drawing lots, each person becomes a secret Santa to that person whose name appears in the chit. The secret Santa has to gift something really nice to the other person without revealing anything. Indian cricketers, however, used this opportunity to troll their teammates.
Ishant Sharma who was Suresh Raina’s secret Santa gifted Raina Bathla Aluminium Ladders so that he could face bouncers quite easily. Raina refused to make any comment, but his nephew did tweet about the gift. “In Ravi Shastri’s words, this is just what the doctor ordered,” he tweeted.
Virat Kohli was Rohit Sharma’s secret Santa and to annoy the talented Mumbaikar, Kohli gifted him a truckload of Maggi noodles. But, Virat wasn’t too far away from the receiving end. He was given a hundred missed calls by his secret Santa Ravichandran Ashwin, as a taunt to his Celkon ad with Tamanna.
Shikhar Dhawan who was Ishant Sharma’s secret Santa gifted him a scissor and a hair-cutting salon gift voucher so that the tall fast bowler finally gets a much needed hair cut.
MS Dhoni wasn’t too far away from the mix as Captain Cool, Ashwin’s secret Santa gifted him a carrom board and a pair of skates, that would help Ashwin run quickly. In turn, Cheteshwar Pujara gifted MS Dhoni a hair dye looking at all the grey hair on Dhoni, lately. Rohit Sharma trolled Ravindra Jadeja by gifting him a lungi, and asked Jaddu to wear it and impress his Chennai franchise to retain him for the next IPL.
However, N Srinivasan, who is everybody’s secret Santa in the real world, was very unhappy that he didn’t get any gift from his secret Santa, Duncan Fletcher. Duncan did apologize saying, he’d dozed off wearing his sun glasses when the team management decided to play the game, and compensated by giving Srini sir his favorite sun glasses.
All three results were possible when Rahul Dravid was named Ravi Shastri’s secret Santa. But, Dravid gave him an insulation tape because wherever Shastri is, the atmosphere would be electric.
