Satire: Vinod Kambli to come out of retirement...and retire again

Disclaimer : This is just a piece of fiction and must be taken with a pinch of salt.

In a shocking devolopment, Vinod Kambli is set to make a comeback to cricket. He declared it on a news channel, on a special show as to how Sachin’s retirement would affect cricket. On asking what was his intent behind the sudden decision, he feels that he was not given enough credit for his “excellent career”.  Also, he stated that he would go into retirement a match after Sachin’s last match, thus making it look like he had a longer career than him.

“Mene decide kia hai ki me cricket vapas khelunga. Me issliye nahi khelunga ki Sachin sab ka praise, aur mere deserving credits usse mili hai, but me isliye khelunga, ki cricket ke lie pyar kabhi kum nahi hua hai, and hamesha me ek “sacha” aur “imandar” cricketer rahunga”

This statement was made by him when Arnab Goswami, who asks more questions than the total no of questions in Quora itself, was demanding Kapil Dev and Sourav Ganguly to answer on how the ruling Indian Government is planning to havoc the minds of Indian voters by manipulating Sachin to go into retirement.

There was mixed response from the Indian cricket community regarding this decision. Infact, the none of the other TV channels have reported regarding this issue.

When a correspondent asked a fan about his thought’s on Kambli’s sudden decision, all he had to say was “Huh? Who is that? “.

Vinod Kambli had a reasonable career. Determined to outshine Sachin Tendulkar, he went on a mission to become the world’s greatest batsman, but sadly, somehow he did a “Sreesanth” to his career. His career came to a terrible ending after he cried off the Eden Gardens in the 1996 world cup. Some say that he was too ashamed of India’s loss, while others say that he had a look into Vinod Kambli 10 years from then, and how had he become(or he was destined to become).

The BCCI stated that the team would welcome him, and he will be present in the playing 11.

Well, Manoj( Tiwary) has no problem sitting on bench. So why not give Kambli a proper farewell?”

The few fans who remember him as the “other batsman” in Sachin’s  presence in a then record of 664 run partnership in a local match, are very eager to watch the two of them play again together.

When Sachin himself was asked to comment, all he said was

Aila!”

Just when Kambli thought he would get the deserving attention he required, Ajit Agarkar retired from 1st class cricket. The man with a golden duck streak took all the media attention, whereas Kambli was left stranded in his apartment, even without the company of the wind.

“This is a plan to disgrace me! Sachin is not helping even now, when I am in trouble”

he quoted before kicking our correspondent out of the room. He was heard crying out loud, and was even heard of saying the word “Sreesanth”.
