Scientific astrologer predicts R Ashwin to overtake Harbhajan Singh's tally of 417 Test wickets in future

Ravichandran Ashwin in action

If the Indian cricket team are to thank someone for their surge to the top of the Test rankings, it is Ravichandran Ashwin. The 30-year-old off-spinner is right now on top of his game and was recently awarded the Man of the series for his 27 wickets against New Zealand in the three-match Test series.

In the last 12-18 months, Ashwin has put in impressive performances in sub-continental conditions and if you thought that his stellar run with the ball would see a halt in the near future, then you are wrong.

If astrologer Greenstone Lobo is to be believed, then the 30-year-old is likely to dominate the scene for some more time and could break many more barriers during the course of his career.

“His strong planets indicate that he will continue to do the same en route to his 300, 400 and 500 wickets as well. Chances are high that the 30-year-old will continue to play cricket at the highest level till 2023-24.

“The off-spinner from Tamil Nadu has his Uranus, Planet-X and Planet-Z in exaltation simultaneously, which makes him really special. Despite the disadvantage of starting late in Test cricket – at the age of 25 compared to 18 of Harbhajan Singh and 20 of Anil Kumble and Muttiah Muralitharan – Ashwin has been the fastest to reach 50, 100, 150 and 200 wickets,” the astrologer wrote in his column for the DNA.

He further went on to say that Ashwin will definitely go past Harbhajan Singh in the wickets tally as far as Test cricket is concerned, but will find it hard to touch Anil Kumble’s mark of 619 wickets, which is still the highest for any Indian bowler in the longer format of the game. He also added that Ashwin will become the “best spin allrounder of all time”.

“In the final analysis, while he will definitely surpass Harbhajan's tally of 417 Test wickets, Ashwin may fall short of Kumble's 619. But his feats will be a notch higher than all other spinners, for he would have taken those wickets in lesser number of Test matches and in fewer playing years.

“Ashwin will probably become the best spin all-rounder of all time. Expect him to score a few more Test centuries, as well as top the charts in the shorter formats as well,” he added.

Ever since making his Test debut in 1990, Kumble played under various captains and only got to lead towards the end of his career, when he was 37-years-old. Lobo felt that Ashwin may lead India at some point in his career and will also perhaps captain an IPL franchise in the future.

“The Chennai lad's captaincy skill is another area that the world is yet to discover. Expect some smart IPL team to make him their captain and reap rich rewards. Just like Kumble, this engineer may even get a chance to lead India at some point of the team's transition,” he concluded.

We wish Ashwin does all of this and a lot more during the course of his career!
