Sean Abbott to be part of 2015 IPL auction
Australian fast bowler Sean Abbott has registered himself for the 2015 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction which is slated to happen sometime next month.
IPL teams likely to bid for Abbott
Abbott is currently representing the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL) and if he does get picked at the auction by a franchise, then it would be his first taste of a foreign T20 league. His base price at the auction would be Rs. 50 lakhs and top officials of two IPL franchises are confident that the fast bowler will find a buyer.
The right-arm pacer made his ODI debut against Pakistan in the UAE last year but played just one game in the three-match ODI series. He has played three T20 Internationals and has picked up a solitary wicket at an economy of 7.83.
He was the unfortunate bowler who bowled the delivery which led to the tragic death of Australian batsman Phil Hughes in November 2014. A month later, the 22-year-old returned to play for his domestic side New South Wales. He showed great character to deliver a short-pitched ball in the very first over he bowled and picked up career-best figures of 6/14 in the second innings.
In 17 first-class games for his domestic side, he has taken 46 wickets with an average of 29.50. He has also played 31 T20 games and has picked up 22 scalps at an economy of 8.42.
Big names like Yuvraj and Pietersen to be part of auction
A total of 171 players have registered themselves in the auction.
Among the Indians, there are the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Dinesh Karthik, Zaheer Khan, Pragyan Ojha and Irfan Pathan while in the international front, Kevin Pietersen, Aaron Finch, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene have put their names into the pool.
Among the franchises, Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad seem to be the teams who would show maximum interest in purchasing players while the rest don't seem to possess enough in their pockets to spend lavishly at the auction
