Shahid Afridi angry over certain scenes in 'Main Hoon Afridi', demands removal
Pakistan cricket star Shahid Afridi, is angry over certain scenes in the movie ‘Main Hoon Afridi’ and has demanded that they be removed from the film, as they may damage his image.
The film tilted “Main Hoon Afridi” is based on the life of a boy who emulates Shahid Afridi’s rise to fame. Though declining to play a role in the film, Afridi had given his approval to the movie as he felt that there was a positive message given out to the youth of Pakistan.
Afridi is extremely angry with a scene in the movie which shows the hero hug and kiss a girl at a nightclub. These scenes have also been used in the initial promotions and trailers of the film.
Afridi hails from a conservative family which belongs to the tribal district of Khyber on the Afghan border. Due to the sensitive nature of his people, Afridi seems furious with the producers of the film whom he feels, have let him down.
“I had given permission for the film with an aim to give kids some positive healthy entertainment, to divert their minds towards cricket and it should not have obscene things,” said Afridi, as reported by NDTV.
“I want to tell the people that the film is not related to my life.”
Afridi now wants the producer Humayun Saeed to remove the scene from the movie before its release.
“A lot of kids and families would go to watch the movie because of me and if they see things like that they will feel bad, so I hope they remove those scenes and run the film,” he said.
The film which was slated for an Eid release has already been stalled due to some technical glitches, and this development may further delay its release. For some more news related to the movie, read here.
