Shahid Afridi signs up for the Ram Slam T20 Challenge in South Africa
The Ram Slam T20 Challenge, South Africa’s Twenty20 league, is now raking in the superstars for the tournament. Shahid Afridi, Pakistan’s star cricket, has now signed up for the Chevrolet Knights for the tournament that is scheduled to be held between January 5 and February 9 next year.
The Knights CEO Johan van Heerden confirmed the signing and said, “Afridi will definitely add value to the Chevrolet Knights in both assets of the game, batting and bowling. Afridi will also be able to add a mentor role and share great expertise especially to the young players in the team. I believe that we have what it takes to step out as the best team in the up and coming Ram Slam T20 Challenge.”
Afridi has been a prime player for Pakistan in the T20 format and was voted the player of the series in the inaugural World T20 in 2007. He also was instrumental in Pakistan winning the title two years later. In the 2009 edition, Afridi was voted as the man of the match in the semifinal and final against South Africa and Sri Lanka respectively.
Afridi’s teammate Saeed Ajmal also signed for the Titans while the medium pacer Sohail Tanvir has joined the Highveld Lions.
