Shakib Al Hasan is optimistic about making his comeback
Bangladesh superstar all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan said that he is optimistic about the national comeback as he started batting practice on Wednesday for the first time during his rehabilitation process.
While talking to the media on Wednesday, Shakib said,
“I have started batting today. It was the first, and I just played some spin bowling. There was no pain during batting, and hopefully, I will start bowling and fielding practice soon.”
There were many talks about Shakib’s return during the West Indies series that set to be played from 22 November with a Test in Chittagong. The star all-rounder did not refuse the possibility of his return to the series.
He said regarding this,
“I am not sure yet, but I am optimistic to make a comeback during the series. Let us see what happens during the next seven days’ rehabilitation process. If I don’t feel any further pain in my finger, it will be easier to decide about making a comeback."
Shakib Al Hasan suffered a blow in the final of tri-series against Sri Lanka earlier this year. And, he made a comeback during Nidahas trophy though he was not fit fully.
Right after that, he played in the West Indies tour taking painkillers. And thus, his injury got worst as he had to back in the midway of the Asia Cup.
Shakib had to undergo a couple of emergency surgery in Dhaka after backing from the Asia Cup, and he went to Australia as well for further check-ups.
While Shakib is suffering from his finger injury, Tamim Iqbal recovering from a broken wrist. The Tigers are missing the service of both star player in the ongoing home series against Zimbabwe. Like Shakib, Tamim is also upbeat to make his comeback during the West Indies series.
A group of West Indies cricket team is already in Bangladesh. They will play two Tests, three ODIs and T20Is in the series. While the first Test will take place in Chittagong from 22 November, the second Test will be held in Dhaka from 30.
Right after that, both teams will lock horns in three ODIs. The first two ODIs will take place in Dhaka on 9 and 11 December.
The other ODI and the T20 series opener will take place in Sylhet on 14 and 17 December respectively. The remaining two T20Is will be held in Dhaka on 20 and 22 December.
