Shakib Al Hasan's wife sexually harassed; Mirpur police arrest alleged offender
June 19, Dhaka: Mirpur police have arrested a man for allegedly sexually harassing Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s wife, Ummey Ahmed Shishir.
"We are looking for several others based on the description given by Shakib," said sub-inspector Rasel, who has taken charge of the case.
He mentioned that they have arrested Rahid, a 23-year-old and son of popular businessman Bazlur Rahman, at his Banani residence following Shakib’s complaint. The alleged incident has reportedly taken place on June 15 while the first ODI match of the Sahara Cup against India was in progress.
The complaint was filed by Shakib the very next day (June 16). It is also understood that the 27-year-old himself joined the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s security personnel when they attacked a section of gathered fans who indulged in harassing during the rain interruption. Witnesses confirm the incident, too.
