Shane Warne builds up excitement for Cricket All-Stars 2016, Brad Hodge asks to feature

Shane Warne and Brad Hodge seen in action

One of the biggest and most successful cricket events in 2015 was undoubtedly the Cricket All-Stars series in USA, which featured retired cricket stars of the 90s and 2000s coming up against each other in a series of three T20 matches.

The initiative, started by Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar, received applause from all around the cricketing world, and from outside as well. Now that the showpiece event has successfully launched itself, there is a lot of excitement as to what the future of the Cricket All-Stars is.

There is a possibility that the series might be held in some other part of the globe this year; it has also been speculated that the number of matches is going to increase from the next edition onwards.

Shane Warne has been trying to hype up the event periodically for the last week or so, saying that there are some major announcements in store from him and Sachin for the seires.

It is not known yet what the announcement is, although Warne has repeatedly promised a major one in recent times.

However, Brad Hodge, one of the first ever mercenary T20 cricketers, did respond to Warne’s tweet, saying he hoped that he was among the stars in action in 2016. Hodge, who has a phenomenal record playing in T20 leagues around the world, was one of the first travelling cricketers who responded to international snub by becoming a mercenary run-smasher.

It is yet to be seen whether Hodge, a valuable addition to any team, does get his wish. What the much-hyped major announcement is also remains to be seen at this stage.
