Shane Warne threatens to take legal action over fake tweet

Shane Warne was caught amidst a Twitter controversy over fake tweet

Fake tweets can land you in prison for up to five years, at least according to Shane Warne who was caught in a controversy on Twitter where a user created a fake tweet using the Australian spinner’s handle and twitter avatar.

In that tweet, the user wrote under Warne’s name: “If 17year old [Mohammad] Amir coud be banned for 5years, why not [Mahendra Singh] Dhoni and [Suresh] Raina with 6 others?”

The tweet referred to the recent controversy surrounding the Indian Premier League betting scandal, with Dhoni even offering to step down as the Chennai Super Kings skipper last week.

Warne warned about the consequences of creating such fake tweets and even went onto add that whoever retweets or re-shares the fake tweet, might face equal punishment as well.
