Shane Watson and Kevin Pieterson gang up to troll Alastair Cook on his selfishness
England captain Alastair Cook has recently become the first England batsman to score more than 10000 Test runs, and is currently enjoying a great period of captaining his team. However, not everybody is worshipping him. Senior cricketers Shane Watson and Kevin Pietersen made fun of how Cook would not pick Ian Bell because he wanted to guard his record.
Ironically, Kevin Pietersen himself must harbour faint hopes of getting a recall to the international set up too. Cook is the highest ever run getter for England, but KP and Bell are the only two currently active players in the top 10. Joe Root, the most accomplished batsmen of the current team, is at 38th spot.
Cook’s 28 is also the highest number of Test centuries by an England batsman, but KP and Ian Bell are the next best – with 23 and 22 – on this count as well.
Watson, now playing in the CPL, tweeted to KP, who is enjoying a holiday, pointing out the unexplainable absence of Bell. KP replied that Cook would not pick anybody who threatened to break his records. From the brashness shown, KP has probably shed all hopes of returning to the team under the current management.
