Shanthakumaran Sreesanth to act in a Bollywood film

Shanthakumaran Sreeshanth

Former Indian cricketer Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, who has been banned from cricket for his alleged involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal, is all set to feature as the lead in a Bollywood film, his brother Dipusanth confirmed.

The film is expected to hit the screens in 2015 and is a remake of a Malayalam film to be directed by a Malayalam director. The 31-year-old fast bowler showcased his dancing skills recently in the celebrity dance show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Ja’ and seems to have made the most of it.

Dipusanth said: “Yes, Sreesanth will play the lead in the film. It will be a remake of a yesteryear superhit Malayalam film, which was quite controversial at that point of time. The film has a familiar subject, and work on it will start as soon as the dance reality show, which he is currently part of, gets over.”

“The rest of the cast hasn’t been decided yet, but the film will have a 2015 release,” said Dipusanth. “Right now, Sreesanth is in a happy phase, doing something he loves best — dancing. He is one of the contestants of the dance reality show — Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Madhuri Dixit praised him recently; she said that she was judging him solely based on what she saw on stage, not on his past, and that she loved his dancing,” he added.

“Whatever he does, he does with passion. Right now, he has completely given himself to dance,” he concluded.

Although Sreeshanth is currently doing a Tamil film, his brother said that the preference will be given to Bollywood films. Sreesanth, who has 87 Test wickets and 75 ODI wickets to his name, was found guilty of spot-fixing when he was a part of the Indian Premier League side Rajasthan Royals in the 2013 edition.
