Shardul Thakur posts tweet in frustration after not being picked by Kings XI Punjab

Shardul Thakur has played just one game for the KXIP so far

Kings XI Punjab have had a disastrous start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) so far. None of the combinations seem to be working for the Punjab franchise as they languish at the bottom of the table. Their 24-year-old pace bowler, Shardul Thakur has taken to Twitter to make his feelings known about his lack of chances since joining the franchise.

The fast bowler has played only one match since signing for the Kings XI Punjab in 2014. Thakur has been in good form in the domestic circuit since the last few years and the reaction from the bowler could probably be understood.

According to some reports, Kings XI Punjab have released a few players in addition to Thakur, like Pradeep Sahu and Armaan Jaffer. It has been learned that the players have been told to wait for the next four games before a decision is made on their future at the franchise.

The 24-year-old has been immense for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy in the last two seasons. In the 2014/15 season, Thakur picked up 48 wickets at an average of 20.81. In the following season, he continued his good form as the picked up 41 wickets in 11 matches.

Thakur will be playing a T20 semi-final game in Mumbai tomorrow for a local cricket club named Payyade Sports Club. This is the first time that he will be playing some form of cricket in the last two months. The last time he played a match was on 15 March, 2016, for Mumbai CA XI against South Africa in a warm-up game ahead of the World T20.

The young bowler had a definite tone of sarcasm in his tweet that took a dig at the lack of opportunities that some players face at their respective franchises. On the one hand, players like Shivil Kaushik, KC Cariappa, etc. have got their fair amount of chances in the IPL.

Here is the tweet that Thakur posted earlier today:
