Shoaib Malik becomes 3rd Pakistan cricketer to complete 1500 runs in T20Is
Veteran Pakistan batsman Shoaib Malik played a valuable knock in the second match of the three-match T20I series against West Indies as Pakistan registers a win in the match and attained an inaccessible lead of 2-0 in the series. Pakistan registered quite a simple 23 run win over the visitors as they were restricted to 144/9, in the chase for 161.
Babar Azam and Khalid Latif steadied the ship and helped Pakistan recover from the early loss of Sharjeel Khan and the duo added 54 runs for the second wicket. Later on, it was Malik along with the Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, who took them to a total of 160. The duo started to up the ante by the 15th over of the match which was bowled by Carlos Brathwaite.

In the process, Malik went past the 1500 runs in T20 internationals and he is the 10th player in the world and the 3rd Pakistan player to achieve this feat. Umar Akmal and Mohammad Hafeez are the other two Pakistan batsman, who have scored more than 1500 runs. Malik has been a key player for Pakistan over the years with over 6300 runs in ODIs and almost 1900 runs in Test cricket.
Pakistan seems to have to bring in good performances under their new skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, who replaced Shahid Afridi after the team’s poor shows in the Asia Cup T20 and the T20 World Cup. This is Pakistan’s third consecutive win in the shortest format of the game, having the T20I against England and two T20Is in this series thus far.
