Chris Lynn injured his right arm having fallen across while diving for the ball

Australia's limited-overs big-hitter Chris Lynn has suffered yet another injury, the latest in a series of injuries to have haunted him. During the ninth over of the New Zealand innings in Auckland in the T20 Tri-series final, Lynn fell awkwardly while chasing the ball fielding at mid-wicket.

It has been confirmed that Lynn would miss out on the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL), as he is now set to return to Brisbane for further assessment of the injury. "Chris dislocated his right shoulder after landing awkwardly on it when fielding the ball," said Alex Kountouris, the physiotherapist with the national side.

"His shoulder was able to be put back into place at the ground and he was consequently sent for X-Rays which revealed no major bone injury.

"At this stage Chris will not travel to the Pakistan Super League in Dubai. He will return to Brisbane to undergo further scans and assessment and from there we will have a better understanding of the ongoing management, along with the return to play timeframes."

However, Lynn has retained hopes of representing the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL which begins on April 7. "I'm disappointed to not go to the Pakistan Super League as planned, but I’ll now focus on rehabilitation and working as hard as I can, with the hope to still take part in the Indian Premier League later this year," he said.

Initially, he sprinted towards his left to stop the ball coming his way, but ended up using his right arm – by virtue of being right-handed – to eventually end up falling across his body. It appeared as though his right arm had been slammed and jarred on the ground, leaving the smashing batsman to grab it out of pain.

Australia's medical team arrived soon to check the damage done, leading him off the field after scanning the injury. It was later known that as a result of the fall, Lynn had popped out his right shoulder which the medical staff had been unable to put back in place.

The batsman from Down Under has had a fair share of worries which has restricted his movement on the field, limiting him from diving on the field. "It's something that's played on my mind for about four years. let's go one step at a time – I want to dive, there's no doubt about that, I want to do well and contribute. But at the moment, I don't want to have another setback because I feel like I'm making good ground,” Lynn had said this Sunday when asked if he would be diving.

The 27-year-old was taken for scans after being attended to by the team doctors, having already suffered multiple shoulder problems in the lead up to the summer. Only his left shoulder has been operated on thrice, and Australia would be frustrated by yet another setback to the aggressive T20 batsman.
