SK Play of the day: Ganesh Moorthi bags a quadruple wicket maiden in TNPL Final
Albert TUTI Patriots bowler Ganesh Moorthi created history by becoming the first ever cricketer to bag a quadruple wicket maiden in the very first over of the 2nd innings in the final of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. His 4 wicket over also included a hat-trick off the last 3 balls.
Thalaivan Sargunam, H Gopinath, Uthirasamy Sasidev and Rajagopal Sathish were the victims of the incredible first over by Ganesh Moorthi
With the TNPL all set to come to an end today, the battle between the Patriots and the Chepauk Super Gillies at the Chepauk stadium in Chennai was set to be an enthralling affair, but due to the heroics of Moorthi, the match seems to have become quite one-sided right now.
The Albert TUTI Patriots won the toss and chose to bat and were off to a blistering start thanks to openers Kaushik Gandhi and former Indian batsman Abhinav Mukund. They put up a staggering partnership of 132 runs in 13 overs, with both of them bagging quick half-centuries. After the departure of Gandhi, Dinesh Karthik, and Abhinav Mukund continued to take the attack to the Gillies bowlers as they amassed 215 in their allotted 20 overs.
With 216 as the target to achieve for the Chepauk Gillies to win the inaugural TNPL, they would have wanted to get off to a flying start, but instead of runs, it was the wickets that went flying for the Gillies – right in the very first over, thanks to the brilliance of Ganesh Moorthi.
Ganesh Moorthi is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and made his cricketing debut in this inaugural edition of the TNPL, and has made significant contributions with the ball for his team.
A lot of tweets came pouring in after the first over magic by Moorthi. Here are few of the tweets :
