SK Play of the day: Kuldeep Yadav bamboozles Glenn Maxwell with a dream delivery
Watch: Kuldeep’s magical spell
Kuldeep Yadav, the young chinaman bowler made his debut today in Dharamsala and had an immediate impact on the game with his plethora of variations.
The young man was brought on to bowl just before lunch and displayed promise right away. However, he found his groove after lunch when he bamboozled the Australian batsmen left, right and centre. He prized out his maiden wicket when David Warner decided to play back to full ball only to nick it behind to captain Ajinkya Rahane.
This was followed by an absolute beauty of a delivery to Peter Handscomb who attempted to drive but the ball spun back in and snuck between bat and pad to dislodge to stumps.
However, he reserved his best for Glenn Maxwell. The right-hander who came fresh out of a century in Ranchi decided to stamp his authority on the young man when he plonked his front foot and smacked him over mid on. Kuldeep was not flustered and responded with an absolute beauty of a google which pitched on middle and leg stump, turned just enough to beat the defensive prod and knocked back the stumps.
The wicket sparked off wild celebration and the 23-year old brought back the hosts into the competition. India needed these wickets as they were staring down the barrel at the lunch interval when Australia were firmly in the driver’s seat at 131/1.
Earlier, Kuldeep received his test cap by former leg-spinner and current commentator Laxman Sivaramakrishnan as India decided to go in with 5 specialist bowlers for the decider in Dharamsala. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first on a very good batting deck.
