SK Social Round-up: November 28th
The world of social media, more often than not, carries a storyline of its own pertaining to whatever action transpires on and off the cricket field. With several cricketers being active members of various social media websites, banters, discussions, and to an extent, arguments happen to be a daily dose for a social buff. The increasing familiarity with one’s favourite cricketers through the direct engagement that the platforms of Facebook, Twitter etc. provide, makes one believe that their favourite cricketer is only a text away. Tapping into the endless parallel world that runs in front of us, on our laptop screens and mobiles, we bring to you the weekly dose of cricketing action that took place on the social media.
Here’s a weekly round-up of what your favourite cricketers have been up to:
Rohit Sharma
He might be currently down with injury, but it doesn’t stop Mumbai’s Rohit Sharma to be at his dapper best. He looks suave in a blue suit with a unique tie to match. Having been ruled out from cricket for ten weeks as he recovers from a leg injury, Rohit needs to keep himself busy. As the description says, you can have a live chat with him on his Facebook page tomorrow.
Shikhar Dhawan
On the road to recovery from a thumb injury that he sustained a while back, Dhawan will have to work hard to get back into the playing XI, now that the opening slots are choc-a-bloc with a plethora of options, including his Delhi-teammate Gautam Gambhir. The carefree guy that Dhawan is, he’d be least concerned with how others are playing, and will smash his way into the team in his own inimitable style. Here he is, endorsing his 1000-watt smile as he greets his fans.
Kevin Pietersen
I am no Andrew Strauss, but I still can’t understand why this guy’s career for the English team has ended way earlier than when it should have. One of the most talented batsmen to have ever graced the game, Pietersen has been handed a rough deal by his Board, but it doesn’t seem to have taken the athlete out of him. Tall and naturally quick, Pietersen’s hair might have turned grey, but he looks as fit as ever. How many of you can match this routine of his?
Chris Gayle
There is nothing that can match the swagger of West Indian cricketers. For Chris Gayle/Universe Boss, the sentiment amplifies even further. There never seems to be a dull day in this 37-year old’s life. For someone who has made T20 cricket his own, here’s a random snap of Chris Gayle taking a breather with a statue of Jack Daniels by his side. If you follow Gayle’s distant gaze, who can see innumerable T20 records yet to be tumbled by the big man. He might be having an on-off journey with the West Indian team, but he’s far from finished.
Yuvraj Singh
Wedding bells are ringing for the Chandigarh-lad, as one of India’s most eligible bachelors is getting ready to tie the knot. The preparations are in full swing as Yuvraj Singh gears up to start a new innings, joined by British-born model Hazel Keech for this partnership. Here’s a picture of the couple as they try out different attires for the much-anticipated wedding, scheduled to be held later this month.
Michael Vaughan
This former England captain, who recently hosted a hilarious video after the Du Plessis/Virat Kohli ball tampering sagas, is back. This time, he does his best Jose Mourinho impression from last night, as he goes about inspecting the Mohali pitch. He walks around the streets of the city, asking so-called “experts” about the nature of the pitch. As he gets a unanimous response from whoever he asks (including a random auto-driver), he concludes that the pitch will, indeed, be a “dry pitch”.
Peter Siddle
And we wrap up with a picture of Peter Siddle celebrating Nico Rosberg’s maiden F1 championship crown in Abu Dhabi. It’s been a big day for the Rosberg family, as Nico and his dad became just the second father-son pair in history to have won the F1 championship. The Australian pacer was present at the venue as he helped himself to a selfie with the man of the moment.
