Sourav Ganguly defends poor innings by Yuvraj Singh in World T20 final

Yuvraj Singh and Sourav Ganguly

Since the last couple of days, Yuvraj Singh has become the target of the media, as most of the Indian fans are directly blaming him for defeat of Team India in the World T20 final.

However, former Indian captain Saurav Ganguly thinks differently. In a move to protect Yuvraj Singh, he said: “It is sad to see the flak Yuvraj has got. Yes, he got stuck but that was largely due to the exceptional bowling by the two.

“Here is a man who has won you two World Cups and to go after him for one bad day is a massive sign of immaturity from all those connected with the game. One must understand that like all of us, he is human and can have poor games at times. To sit and say that his career is over is not only harsh but reflects lack of knowledge of the intricacies of the sport.”

Though the perception of Ganguly might be true in technical terms, it is pertinent to add that in this cricket-mad country, the game is followed with a lot of emotion, and most of the fans actually do not have knowledge of the intricacies of the sport.
