Sourav Ganguly expresses confusion about role of BCCI advisory committee

Sourav Ganguly

The BCCI may have roped in some of the biggest names in Indian cricket to constitute their high-profile advisory committee, but committee member Sourav Ganguly confessed not to have too much of an understanding of what his role entails. He expressed satisfaction however in the knowledge that he would be part of a team also including Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.

"I have come to know about the committee, rest I don't know. I don't even know what is the role of the advisory committee. But I am happy to work with Sachin and Laxman," said the former India captain.

The BCCI had said that the role of the advisory body, which was intentionally constituted by the biggest of Indian cricketing legends, would be to prepare the Indian team for the rigours of foreign tours and to improve the domestic structure – but have not intimated the three individuals of what they are expected to do.

"Areas of immediate focus will be to provide guidance to our national team as we set out to enhance our performance on overseas engagements, provide direction to improve our talent pathway and take steps to strengthen domestic cricket to better prepare our players to handle the rigors of International Cricket," the BCCI stated.
