Sourav Ganguly not worried about Virat Kohli's behaviour as long as he scores runs

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly admitted that Virat Kohli’s behavioural issues are of no concern to him. Ganguly said that as long as Kohli scores runs for the country, his conduct does not really matter.

Recently, BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya had revealed that the cricketing body was keeping a close eye on the youngster’s behaviour on the field and would intervene if it got out of hand.

“I hope Kohli leads India to a World Cup title”

However, on being asked if he agreed with Dalmiya, Dada, as Ganguly is fondly called, said that Kohli is a young boy and he will learn the more he plays. He also wished for the Indian vice-captain to eventually lead the country to the World Cup.

“You need to ask the BCCI president as to what he said on Virat. To me, he is a terrific player. That's how I look at it. He is a young boy. He is just 26. Therefore, more he will learn, better he will get. At the end of the day, he is a class act,” said Ganguly.

“I hope he continues to bat like the way he is doing right now. Every person is different and you got to treat them differently. I only look at the runs he scores and nothing else. I hope one day, he will lead the side to a World Cup title.”

Ganguly stayed clear of questions regarding the possibility of him filling the vacant Indian coach’s seat.

He said coyly, “There is no point thinking about it. If you get the job, you do it. As of now, I am not aware of anything.”

The Prince of Calcutta was asked about ex-teammate Yuvraj Singh’s form in the IPL and if that could lead to a call up to the national team set up.

“He (Yuvraj) has to be more consistent like he was in the past. The manner in which he played the last match (against MI), I expect more such innings. So I hope he finds his touch soon,” he expressed.
