Sourav Ganguly wants India to play day-night Test matches in every series

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has made his intentions clear that he wants India to take up day-night Tests as a regular feature of their Test calendar. It was very recently that India took part in a pink-ball Test when they squared off against Bangladesh at the iconic Eden Gardens.

While India were not very keen about the prospect of pink ball Tests last year, Ganguly believes that day-night Tests are the way forward.

I am pretty upbeat about it,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by ‘The Week’ magazine. I feel this is the way forward. Not every test, but at least one test in a series.”

After a sell-out at the Eden Gardens during the historic Test, other venues are gearing up to host a day-night Test.

“I will share my experiences with the board and we will try and implement it in other places.”

“After this, everyone is ready. Nobody wants to play test cricket in front of 5,000 people,” added the former Indian skipper.

Before the start of the pink ball Test against Bangladesh Virat Kohli clearly stated that pink ball Tests shouldn’t be a regular scenario.

I think (day-night tests) can be a one-off thing, it should not be a regular scenario,” Kohli said in Kolkata on the eve of the Test match.

The Indian skipper recently stated that they are ready to play a day night Test in Australia next year provided they get enough practice with the pink ball. The pink ball Test in Kolkata was a spectacle as it attracted 70,000 crowd in the first two days.

India's next assignment in the longest format will be a two match Test series in New Zealand in February. With 7 wins in as many matches, India sits pretty at the top of the ladder with 360 points.
