Sourav Ganguly's coaching center banned on allegations of mis-representing age
The Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) have come down hard on all those who have been convicted of mis-representing their age in age related tournaments. A total of 42 players have been banned for a period of two years.
In a statement, the CAB said, “Next time, we will be stricter. A coaching centre will be banned for a life time, while a player for 10 years to take part in any CAB organised tournament if found guilty of age fudging. We want to set a precedent to curb the menace,”
Sourav Ganguly‘s coaching academy has been banned for one year, along with 13 other such centers. A spokesperson from ‘Dada’s’ academy has come out and supported the decision, highlighting their carelessness.
“We never checked their certificates thinking that it’s done by the CAB in a tournament” he said.
He also said that stringent steps will now be taken to make sure this is not repeated.
“But this would not happen again as we would cross check the birth certificates with the municipal corporations from here on.” he added.
