South Africa vs India 2018: Quinton de Kock ruled out of the ODI and T20I series due to injury

2nd Momentum ODI: South Africa v Bangladesh

South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing ODI series and the following T20I series against India due to a wrist injury he suffered when he was batting in the second ODI. It has been confirmed that he will out of action for two-four weeks and is expected to be fit in time for the Test series against Australia.

The selectors didn't name any replacement for the left-hander as the Proteas already have Heinrich Klaasen in the squad after he, along with Farhaan Behardien, was called up as a replacement for Faf du Plessis.

De Kock was nursing a wrist injury in his left hand for a while as he kept holding his wrist during the Test series and the injury aggravated after he was hit by a Jasprit Bumrah delivery in the second over of the second ODI.

He felt the pain and received some medical attention before he continued his batting before he eventually got out for 20 off 36 balls when he tried to hoist leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal out of the park and ended up offering Hardik Pandya an easy catch.

Known as India's tormentor, the wicketkeeper-bat hardly troubled India in the tour as he completely looked off-colour in both Tests and ODIs. De Kock is the third South African to be ruled out of the ODI series after AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis are out of action due to finger injuries.

Though de Villiers is expected to return for the fourth ODI at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, skipper du Plessis has been ruled out of the series and in his absence, Aiden Markram has been given the responsibility to lead the side.

With the Proteas already 2-0 down in the series, the absence of de Kock will just make their task of making a comeback in the series difficult.
