South Africa vs India 2018: Virat Kohli breaks several records en route his 153
After faltering in Newlands, Cape Town, the Indian captain Virat Kohli found his form and conjured the belief to notch his 21st Test century, in Centurion, and in the process dragged India back into the game.
Kohli looked in complete control right from the outset and was never hassled by the South African bowling attack as he drove, cut, slashed, and ran hard between the wickets to reach the feat.
Along the way the Indian captain broke several records and scripted few of his own.
1 - Kohli joined Sir Donald Bradman as the captain with most 150+ scores in Tests. He got to his eighth 150+ score in Centurion and is above Michael Clarke, Mahela Jayawardene, Brian Lara, and Graeme Smith, who have seven centuries each.
2 - He became only the second Indian captain to score a century on South African soil. Sachin Tendulkar is the other captain to have achieved this feat when he got the triple-digit score back in 1997 at Cape Town.
3 - Kohli is joint third with Cheteshwar Pujara for scoring the highest runs in South Africa with 153.
5 - The Indian skipper became the fifth captain to score a century in Tests in Centurion.
13 - Most centuries by an Indian captain in International cricket. He went past Sourav Ganguly, who had 12 to his name.
14 - Virat Kohli also equalled Mahela Jayawardene for the most number of centuries by an Asian captain in Tests. Sunil Gavaskar is at the number three position with 11 hundreds.
