Stats: 10 lowest Ranji Trophy totals

As the 4th round of fixtures of the Ranji Trophy commenced on Thursday, Himachal Pradesh took on Hyderabad in a Group C encounter. As Himachal Pradesh were put into bat first, the Hyderabad bowlers ran riot and did not allow any Himachal player to settle down and they were bowled out for a meagre score of 36. There was not a single player in the whole team who managed to score a double digit score for Himachal.

The Hyderabad bowlers were on song as they all picked up wickets, with Akash Bhandari being the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 4 wickets and did not concede a single run in 4 overs. Rishi Dhawan who scored 9, was the highest scorer for the Himachal Pradesh side. 5 out of the 10 batsmen were out witthout scoring a single run.

As Himachal Pradesh  were  bowled out for that low score,  one could not help but wonder whether it ranked among the lowest scores ever in the Ranji Trophy. Interestingly, it does not even rank amongst the 10 lowest ever Ranji Trophy totals.

The Hyderabadi cricketers could not help but remember when they were at the receiving end of a brutal bowling attack back in 2010 when they achieved the lowest ever total in Ranji Trophy history as they were dismissed with only 21 runs on the board against Rajasthan at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Deepak Chahar was the star bowler for Rajasthan in that match as he picked up 8 wickets with Pankaj Singh picking up the other two wickets. Rajasthan went on to win that match by an innings and 256 runs in the end.

Here is the list of the 10 lowest ever totals in Ranji Trophy history.
