Asia Cup 2016: Runs & Records of India Vs Bangladesh T20 Match

Rohit Sharma's 83 helped India post a big total on a green pitch

When the green top was revealed as the pitch for the first T20I of the Asia Cup 2016 T20 between hosts Bangladesh and India, it seemed like it would be a low-scoring match with the bowlers dominating.

However, after struggling for the first ten overs, the Indian batsmen counter-attacked in the last ten overs and put on a challenging total in the circumstances. Bangladesh never looked like chasing the total down as India picked up wickets at regular intervals and minimised any chance for the home side to give India a 45-run win in the first match of the tournament.

0 – The number of wins Bangladesh have in three T20Is against India. The last two times the two teams met were in the 2009 World T20 and in the 2014 World T20.

1 – India is the only team to have four players to have crossed the 1000-run mark in T20I cricket.

3 – Rohit Sharma has three of India's five highest individual scores in T20Is. The other two are Suresh Raina (101) and Virat Kohli (90*).

3 – Rohit Sharma has scored more than 50% of the team's innings score for the third time in his career. Only Mahela Jayawardene has scored (5 times) more than 50% of the team's runs more times.

4 – Yuvraj Singh became the fourth Indian to score 1000 T20I runs. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina are the other three to have achieved the feat.

4 – This is the fourth time that MS Dhoni has scored a six in the last ball of the 20th over in a T20I innings. No batsman has scored more than two sixes.

6.89 – The economy rate of Ravichandran Ashwin in 35 T20Is. After his first twelve matches, Ashwin's ER was 7.57. In matches 13 to 24, his ER was 6,86 and in his last 11 matches, his ER has been 6.18.

10 – Rohit Sharma scored his 10th T20I fifty. He has the second highest fifties in T20Is for India. Virat Kohli, with 12, is top of the list for India.

23 – The number of runs conceded by four bowlers –  Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and R Ashwin – in the Indian bowling innings. This is the first time that this has happened in T20Is.

40.28 – Rohit Sharma's average in T20Is in 2016. He has scored three fifties in seven innings.

83 – Rohit Sharma's score in the match against Bangladesh is his second highest in T20Is, his highest being 106 against South Africa in 2015. This is also the fourth highest T20I score for India.

114 – The number of runs India scored in the last 57 balls of the Indian innings after Rohit Sharma was dropped by Shakib Al-Hasan. India had scored 52 runs in the first 63 balls.

166.66 – Hardik Pandya's strike rate in T20Is. This is the third highest for any batsman who has faced more than 30 balls. Norman Vanua of Papua New Guinea with 172.91 and Andrew Symonds of Australia with 169.34 are in first and second spots.

229.62 –  Rohit Sharma's strike rate after he was dropped by Shakib Al-Hasan in the 11th over. Rohit was 21 off 28 balls till the drop and he scored 62 off the remaining 27 balls that he faced.
