Stats: Australia vs West Indies 2nd Test Day 2- Adam Voges' Bradmanesque record, Steve Smith piles up tons

Steve Smith and Adam Voges – Voges completes his 1000th Test run

Australia had to wait until the third session of Day 2 to take ascendancy in the 2nd Test at the MCG against the visiting West Indies, but 6 wickets after tea mean that the Carribbean team are yet again precariously placed in what has been a woeful tour for them.

206- days taken by Adam Voges to reach his 1000 runs in tests since his debut on 3 June 2015- 2nd fewest by any player in cricket history. Michael Hussey took 164 days since his debut to reach this milestone and is therefore the quickest player in terms of days. Andrew Strauss with 227 days is 3rd on the list.

85.66- The Batting Average for Adam Voges in Test Cricket- Which is 2nd highest for any player behind Don Bradman’s 99.94 (min 500 runs). He has now struck four hundreds in 18 innings in his test career.

His average is the highest for any player in tests against a certain opposition. Jacques Rudolph’s 293 vs Bangladesh is second on this list by a very far distance.

162- The Average per wicket with which Australian Batsmen have scored runs in this series- it is the highest average per wicket for any team which has faced minimum 200 overs. Pakistan, in the series against Sri Lanka in 2008/09, averaged 125 and is second in this list. On the other hand, West Indies’ average in this series is 19.25

Previously India has done it in 2007 and Pakistan in 2001- against Bangladesh on both occasions. Interestingly, in all three instances, no player has scored beyond 150.
