Stats: David Warner equals Sourav Ganguly for most ODI hundreds in a calendar year
The year 2016 has seen three different batsmen top the charts for the most number of runs in a calendar year. England skipper Alastair Cook is on top as far as the longer format is concerned, while Virat Kohli is the leading run-getter in the shortest form of the game.
As far as the 50-over format is concerned, it is David Warner, who is on top of the pile with 1334 runs in 23 matches, just behind his captain Steven Smith, who has to his name 1154 runs in 25 matches.
During the third game of the ongoing Chappell-Hadlee series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Warner notched up his second consecutive hundred of the series to lead the Australian charge with the bat.
It was Warner’s seventh hundred in the 50-over format in 2016 and it now puts him joint second, along with Sourav Ganguly for most number of centuries in a single calendar year.Sachin Tendulkar leads the pack with 9 hundreds which he made in 1998.

At the end of the 39th over, Australia found themselves at 178 for 4 with Warner unbeaten on 104.
