Stats: List of batsmen fastest to 1000 Test runs

Cheteshwar Pujara today became the second fastest Indian to reach 1000 Test Runs by scoring 204 against Australia in the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Uppal, Hyderabad.

The fastest Indian to reach the feat is Vinod Kambli in 14 innings, while Pujara took 18 innings to reach the same feat. Overall, Pujara is twelfth fastest to reach 1000 Test Runs. On the top of the list is English legend Herbart Sutcliff, who achieved this feat in an extraordinary 12 innings. He is followed by another two greats of the game – Everton Weeks of West Indies and Don Bradman, the greatest batsmen of all time, who took 12 and 13 innings respectively.
