Stats: List of countries with most wins in ODIs
India’s 3-2 win over New Zealand in the ODI series meant the hosts are now level with Pakistan in second place on the list of teams with most wins in ODIs. Australia lead the way and are unlikely to be caught up anytime soon. West Indies’ tie against Zimbabwe also meant that they equalled with Australia and claimed the unwanted record of the team with the most Tied ODIs.
India’s win in the third ODI against New Zealand meant that the visitors became only the fourth team and the first non-Asian team to lose 350 ODIs. As New Zealand leveled the five-match ODI series 1-1 in the second ODI at Delhi, India claimed the unwanted record of being the first team to lose 400 ODI matches. Courtesy of their first ODI against New Zealand, India became the first country to play in 900 ODIs.
Australia’s loss in the final ODI against South Africa not only meant that they were whitewashed 5-0 for the first time in their ODI history but also became the eighth side to lose 300 ODIs. They still hold the record for most ODI wins, however, and their win percentage is better than any of the top 10 sides.
Bangladesh’s victory over Afghanistan in the third ODI at Mirpur by 141 runs not only gave them a 2-1 series win over the visitors but also meant that they became only the 10th side to win 100 ODIs. However, they followed that up with a 2-1 loss against England at home which now means that they now have 101 wins from 318 games with a win percentage of 32.16.
Courtesy of their 3-0 victory over West Indies, Pakistan overtook India and are now in second place in the all-time list of most ODI wins. Australia top this list with 547 wins from 888 matches despite their whitewash at the hands of South Africa in their five-match ODI series.

Although ODIs are under half a century old, there have already been plenty of matches that have been played in the format. From the very first ODI between Australia and England at Melbourne, which was the won by the hosts, to the most recent one between South Africa vs Australia in South Africa, there have been over 3,500 ODIs played.
Unsurprisingly, in the list of most ODI wins, it is the team with the most ODI World Cups that are at the top of the table. Australia may not have played the most number of ODI matches but they are comfortably ahead in terms of most wins in the format.
Their win percentage of 64.42 is also the best among the top 10 despite them having played more matches than all but one country. Their 547 wins is almost a century ahead of the country in second place and it looks unlikely that they will relinquish top spot on this list anytime soon.
Second place, however, was held by India until the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies, which was won by the hosts. Having swept West Indies 3-0 in the ODI series, they are in second place with 457 ODI wins to their name and now level with India who are third by virtue of having played more and lost more games.
Pakistan have won 457 out of their 866 matches and their win percentage is 54.36 while India have won 457 out of their 904 matches with a win percentage of 53.23. The top three are the only countries to have won over 450 ODI matches.
Although South Africa have played more than 300 ODIs fewer than the top three, they still have 564 games under their belt and are fast catching up to Australia in terms of win percentage, as theirs currently stands at 64.05.
All of the countries in the top ten list have won at least 100 ODI matches, the latest entry to that list was Bangladesh, courtesy of their win over Afghanistan. Here is the entire list of countries with most ODI wins.
