Stats: Lokesh Rahul's triple century 8th highest score in Ranji Trophy history and first triple ton by any Karnataka batsman
Opening batsman from Karnataka, Lokesh Rahul, has had a good start to the year 2015. On January 8th he scored his maiden Test century in only his second Test, and more recently on January 30th, he brought up his maiden triple century in his first class career.
Lokesh Rahul scored 337 runs in 448 balls for Karnataka against Uttar Pradesh at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. It is in fact the first triple century for Karnataka in Ranji Trophy history. Rahul broke the record of Barrington Rowland who had scored 283 runs for Karnataka against Madhya Pradesh, also at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, in 2004/05.
Lokesh Rahul became the 28th player to score a triple century in Ranji Trophy and first to do so for Karnataka. His 337 is the 33rd individual score to be posted of more than 300 in the tournament history. Ravindra Jadeja has scored three triple centuries while VVS Laxman, Wasim Jaffer and Cheteshwar Pujara have scored two 300s each.

No Karnataka batsman has scored a triple century before this. There has been only one triple century at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. It was by VVS Laxman who scored 353 for Hyderabad against Karnataka in 1999/00.
