Stats: Mohammad Amir breaks the record for the maximum number of Tests taken to claim a catch

This stunning effort from Mohammad Amir helped him break the record

Pakistan quick Mohammad Amir has had quite a comeback into international cricket. The 24-year-old has impressed one-and-all across all three formats of the game and like he had done so before being suspended for his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal that had broken out in 2010, has begun to show promise of becoming an all-time great as far as fast bowling was concerned.

However, on Monday, Amir made the news, not for his bowling, but for his fielding. After picking up an outstanding catch to dismiss Darren Bravo, he broke the record for maximum number of Tests taken before taking a catch in the format.

Playing in his 20th Test, Amir claimed the catch to dismiss Bravo off the bowling of Zulfiqar Babar, when he ran and leapt to take a superb catch, that will certainly go into contention for one of the best grabs in 2016.

Amir broke the record held by Geoff Pullar of England, who his first catch in his 18th Test, Glenn McGrath is third on the list with 16 matches while Mohammad Sami, who played for the Men in Green in the World T20 earlier this year, took his first Test catch in his 15th game.

Also part of the list is Jerome Taylor, who took his first catch in his 12th match for the West Indies.

After finishing Day 1 at 255 for 8, the Pakistan tail added 26 runs on the morning of Day 2 before getting bowled out for 281. Devendra Bishoo turned out to be the pick of the bowlers with four wickets and received good support from Shannon Gabriel, who took three wickets.

In reply, the West Indies found themselves in early trouble at 38 for 3 at Lunch, with Leon Johnson, Bravo and Marlon Samuels returning to the pavilion in quick succession to hand the advantage to the hosts.
