Stats: More Man of the Series awards than Man of the Match awards in Tests
Ravichandran got the fourth Man-of-the-Series (MoS) award of his Test career with the conclusion of India’s 2-1 victory in the three matches. Interesting to note that he has got only three Man-of-the-Match (MoM) awards compared to four MoS awards.
It is a remarkable feat for anyone with such figures as it proves that the player performed well to make his team win the series by performing decently in almost every match not only performing excellently in only one MoS.
Apart from Ravichandran Ashwin, only two more Test cricketers have won more MoS awards than MoM awards in their series. They are Andrew Strauss with two MoM and five MoS awards and Heath Streak with a single MoM and four MoS awards.
The table below lists all the players who have won more number of MoS awards than MoM awards in their Test career.

- Many players have got a single MoS award without getting any MoM award.
- Joel Garner is the only one without a single MoM award but multiple MoS awards (2).
- These awards became common only in the 1980s.
- The players with an asterisk (*) at the end of their names are the ones who made debut in the 1960s or 1970s and in those days the awards were given rarely.
