Stats: Most balls bowled in a Test career
20 years ago on this day, India’s first World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev surpassed the record (27,115 balls by Lance Gibbs of West Indies) for the most number of balls ever bowled in Test cricket.
Today, the record is held by Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan with an overwhelming 44,039 balls followed by Indian leg-spin legend Anil Kumble with 40,850 balls. Harbhajan Singh and Kapil Dev are the only other Indians who have managed to secure a spot in the top 10.
