Stats: Most runs scored by a visiting batsman at Galle
With 393 runs and counting, Pakistan batsman Younis Khan now has the record for the most number of runs by a visiting player at the Galle international stadium, Sri Lanka, breaking Indian opener Virender Sehwag’s tally of 391 runs at the venue.
The 36-year-old has also equalled Mohammad Yousuf’s record of 24 centuries, the second-most by a Pakistani in Test cricket.
The former Pakistan captain is batting on 133* at stumps on the first day of play. Earlier, the Misbah-ul-Haq led team were reduced to 19 for 2 after the loss of both the openers Ahmed Shehzad and Khurram Manzoor.
Younis led the recovery by adding 100 with his captain Misbah and also shared an unbroken partnership of 105 runs with Asad Shafiq. Pakistan have scored 261 for the loss of four wickets and are looking good enough to go past 400 with two settled batsmen at the crease.
