Stats: Ravichandran Ashwin continues to torment Lahiru Thirimanne
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 205 on day one of the second Test between India and Sri Lanka at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. India ended the day 194 runs behind as Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara remained unbeaten at the end of the day with the score at 11/1.
After not picking up a wicket in the previous, Indian spinners bounced back in style as they picked up seven wickets. India, who made three changes to the side that drew the first Test in Kolkata got off to the perfect start thanks to the returning Ishant Sharma who got rid of opener Sadeera Samarawickrama early.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin got into the act soon afterwards before Ishant came back to dismiss the dangerous Dimuth Karunaratne for 51. From 122/3, the wicket of Karunaratne prompted a collapse that saw them eventually bowled out for 205.
Captain Dinesh Chandimal scored 57 but he was trapped by Ashwin after attempting a reverse sweep while batting with the tail. Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers, as he finished with four wickets while Jadeja and Ishant both picked up three apiece.
