Stats & Records: ICC World T20 2016, England v West Indies - Gayle blasts England, smashes records along the way

Chris Gayle was unstoppable, and smashed a whirlwind century

Chris Gayle once again proved why he is one of the best batsmen in this format. The match between West Indies and England was billed as a match between two sides packed with power hitters, and Gayle took centre stage. West Indies chasing a target of 187, strolled home with 6 wickets in hand. Gayle smashes his second World T20 century and finished unbeaten with 100 off 48 balls.

Windies skipper Darren Sammy invited England and made it clear that he was willing to chase anything. England scored 186. Joe Root played an innings of 48, and then quick cameos from Buttler, Morgan, Hales and Stokes helped England achieve the score. The score was just about par on a quick outfield and small boundaries and Gayle smashed the bowlers all over the park.
