After losing the Test series, Australia on Saturday started the ODI series on a winning note. The hosts pipped India by 34 runs at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match assignment.

Earlier, Aussies won the toss and opted to bat first, however, didn't get the best of the starts as they lost a couple of early wickets. However, it was the trio of Khawaja, Marsh and Handscomb who came to the rescue. All of them scored half-centuries while later a handy cameo by Marcus Stoinis steered them to a 288-run total.

Visitors in reply got off to a horrible start. They lost three wickets on the score of four, largely due to some exceptional bowling by Aussie newbies. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma didn't give up the race as the opener kept the scoreboard moving.
