South Africa vs India 2018: Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni approaching new milestones heading into T20I series
After having demolished South Africa 5-1 in the ODI series, a perky India will be aiming to dominate the hosts in the T20I series as well.
Indian captain Virat Kohli and former captain MS Dhoni have made breaking records a propensity and the two go into the T20I series against South Africa with milestones awaiting them.
Virat needs 44 more runs to complete 2000 runs in T20I cricket. If he does score these 44 runs, he will become the first Indian and 4th overall to score 2000 runs in T20I cricket. Also, he will become the fastest player in the history of T20I cricket to reach 2000 runs.
Having dominated the batting charts, Kohli is now on the brink of yet another captaincy record. Ever since the start of the tour, Kohli has been setting milestones both as a captain and player. Recently, he became the first ever Indian captain to win a bilateral ODI series in South Africa. And now he is all set to shift his base to T20Is and set new records there. If Kohli manages to beat South Africa in the T20I series, then he will become the first ever Indian captain to beat South Africa in a 3-match T20I series in South Africa.
MS Dhoni and wicket-keeping: The undying love
Dhoni recently reached the milestone of 600 catches in international cricket. But it is not the end of the story. Dhoni needs three more catches to accomplish the feat of 50 catches in T20Is. He will be the first Indian and second overall after AB de Villiers to have taken 50 T20I catches.
Well, Dhoni has one more record in the bank. He needs to affect four more stumpings in T20I cricket to surpass Kamran Akmal of Pakistan and lead the charts. So far, Dhoni has affected 29 stumpings in T20Is while Kamran Akmal has affected 32 stumpings.
