Stats: Teams with the lowest totals in the English County
When Lancashire took on Essex at Chelmsford today, little did Lancashire know that a first innings lead of 125 would secure them an innings victory, that too, by a margin of more than 100 runs. But it happened as Essex, with Owais Shah and Ryan ten Doeschate in its ranks, was dismissed for a paltry 20 runs in the second innings, in just over 14 overs.
You may expect 20 runs to be the lowest score in English County cricket since 1900, you would be surprised to find that it is actually the eighth lowest figure. Northants were dismissed for twelve runs against Gloucs in 1907, which remains the lowest till date.
When Hampshire made 15 against Warwickshire in 1922, they went on to win the match by scoring a massive 521 in the second innings.
