After choosing to bat first in the first match of tri-nation series, South Africa started well as Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock made a 50 run partnership but then they lost both openers in quick succession. AB de Villiers and Rilee Rossouw played cautiously and added 78 runs for the third wicket but thereafter nobody stood on the wicket and South Africa lost the plot.
