Stephen Fleming praises Indian bowlers for CSK's UAE performance
Ahead of their first IPL 7 match in India on Friday, Chennai Super Kings‘ coach Stephen Fleming has praised his seam bowlers for Chennai’s remarkable performance in UAE.
Fleming is deeply impressed by the bowling displayed by young Mohit Sharma. Having taken 8 wickets in the 5 matches, Sharma has been extremely useful for his team.
“Mohit (Sharma) probably comes from a higher level to start with. He has been recognised by the Indian selectors. But he is still relatively new, and yet what he has done is excellent,” Fleming was quoted by The Hindu.
On being asked about other bowlers such as Ishwar Pandey, Fleming said, “We are able to use our overseas powers at the top while we have pretty much an Indian bowling line-up. The strength of our Indian players has allowed us to use our overseas players better.”
When asked about the change in home ground from Chennai to Ranchi in IPL 7, Fleming said, “We are very lucky with fan support we have, and I don’t think it matters where we play. We always get a large contingent of yellow shirts turning up. We have enjoyed our time in Chennai; we’ve played beautifully there.”
“The fact is we are not there, but we have done well here too. So, that is two good grounds for us. Our support won’t die because we are not playing in Chennai. In fact, it could get stronger, with the fan base we’ve got,” he added.
Ranchi, which was Kolkata Knight Riders’ home ground last season, will host a few matches of CSK this year.
