England have selected all-rounder Ben Stokes in their 15-man squad for the five-match one-day international series against New Zealand.

Stokes's involvement is subject to any court obligations in relation to the incident outside a Bristol nightclub in September and his travel arrangements are yet to be confirmed.

The 26-year-old is set to appear in Bristol Magistrates' Court to answer an affray charge on February 13 – the same day as England's opening Twenty20 international against the Black Caps, with the ODI series scheduled to get underway in Hamilton on February 25.

Stokes, who has not featured for England since his arrest, could make his comeback in the second T20 against New Zealand on February 18.

Joe Root is also set to return for the ODIs after being rested for the T20 tri-series.

Chairman of selectors James Whitaker said: "Our ODI side has made good progress over the last two years and it's encouraging to see with the 2019 World Cup on the horizon.

"We're sure to encounter strong opposition in New Zealand but it's another opportunity for the team to test themselves and to continue playing entertaining cricket.

"I would like to wish everyone involved in the squad the best of luck."

England are coming off a 4-1 ODI series victory over Australia, having surrendered the Ashes urn in the Test format.
