Student in Agra issued examination admit card with Arjun Tendulkar's photo

Arjun Tendulkar’s photo goof-up by UP school administration

In a comical faux-pas that has exposed the corruption in Uttar Pradesh's school administration, a fake ID card of a Class 10 student has been found, issued with the photograph of Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar.

1.6 lakh students are sitting for the exams in Uttar Pradesh’s board examinations which start from Thursday, but a certain Arjun Singh’s identity card, with roll number 0025488, has a passport size picture of the Indian cricket legend’s son.

The blunder was not confined to the photo being pasted on the admit card, it was also been attested and signed by the private inter college (Ankur Inter college, Durga Nagar) administration.

More than one people in the university, evidently, did not know what their student Arjun Singh looks like, and also what Sachin’s son looks like. The blunder may come across as a harmless incident, but it reveals the rot at the heart of the school system in the country.

‘Education mafia runs entire examination’

A source close to the exposé told TOI, "It's a nexus of education mafia with private and public colleges operating in the entire state. Scores of admit cards with fake photographs have been pasted on admit cards, so that during examination someone else can appear for paper- ensuring that the actual candidate is passed."

He said, "You can paste even Hafiz Saeed photo and no one will cross check at examination center, as there are no photographs printed or pasted on attendance sheet of examination center. The entire system is managed. And even if by chance, flying squad caught the impersonator during exam, they won't be able to establish his identity as the picture in admit cards are of some different person.

"For each such fake admit cards, candidates pay up to Rs 20,000- 30,000 to college administration," he added.

Dinesh Kumar, district inspector of schools of Agra, said, “There is not a single photo in the attendance sheet of the examination center to cross check the student's identification.”
