Suresh Raina looks forward to new IPL innings in Gujarat
Suresh Raina was the second most in-demand player at the IPL Draft, at the formation of the two new IPL teams based in Rajkot and Pune, being chosen by the Rajkot team as their first pick.
With a salary of 12.5 crore, Raina, alongside Dhoni, emerged from the event in Mumbai on Tuesday, as the richest from among players of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, the two IPL teams banned for the next two years.
In Ravindra Jadeja, James Faulkner and Dwayne Bravo, Rajkot have picked three handy all-rounders, and will be relying on Brendon McCullum, alongside Raina, to form the core of the batting order. It is also likely that Raina will be asked to lead the Rajkot franchise.
Raina sent out a tweet to mark the occasion, looking forward to a new innings in the IPL, for the first time not in a yellow jersey.
