Tamil Nadu Premier League 2016 in numbers

Antony Dhas (L) and N Jagadeesan (R) finished as the leading wicket-taker and run-scorer in TNPL 2016

After 31 matches and hard-fought cricket for nearly a month, the inaugural Tamil Nadu Premier League ended on Sunday with Albert TUTI Patriots taking home the title by beating Chepauk Super Gillies in the final.

It was a sense of deja vu in the final as Tuti Patriots and Gillies who took part in the tournament's first match finished the tournament and it was the same result as the Patriots beat the Gillies just like in the first match. And that brought an end to the first edition of TNPL, so what were the major records and numbers from the tournament?

Here are some interesting statistical highlights from the tournament:

1 – There was only one century that was scored in the tournament and that was by VB Thiruvallur Veerans’ Baba Aparajith who scored an unbeaten 118 against Karaikudi Kaalai.

2 - There were two hat-tricks taken in the tournament. The first was by Lyca Kovai Kings' MK Siva Kumar against Albert TUTI Patriots and the second came courtesy of Ganesh Moorthi in the final for TUTI Patriots against Chepauk Super Gillies.

9 - The game that saw the fewest number of wickets fall in the entire tournament was the clash between TUTI Patriots and Ruby Kanchi Warriors in Dindigul. Only 9 wickets fell as the Patriots reached the target of 146 having lost just one wicket after the Warriors struggled to 145/8.

11 - Out of the 1192.5 overs that were bowled in the entire tournament, only 11 were maidens and one of them was in the final of the tournament.

49 - Kyca Kovai Kings' S Harish Kumar produced a spell of 4-0-49-2 against VB Thiruvallur Veerans, which is the worst figures in this year's TNPL.

93 - Chepauk Super Gillies were bowled out for 93 in the final against Patriots, it also happened to be the lowest total in the tournament.
