The Ashes 2013: Ed Cowan and Mitchell Starc dropped from 2nd Test squad

Usman Khawaja (R) will replace struggling Ed Cowan in the 2nd Test

Pakistani-born Usman Khawaja has been called in to replace Ed Cowan in the Australian top order after the latter’s disappointing form in the first Test, scoring 0 and 14 in two innings.

Khawaja has played just six Tests, averaging 29.22 runs.

Meanwhile, Ryan Harris will be replacing Mitchell Starc in the bowling line-up owning to his brilliant control and his ability to bowl out swing. Harris has not featured in a Test match for more than a year after he was sidelined by a shoulder injury.

Harris, 33, has taken 47 wickets at 23.63 from only 12 Tests.

Australia take on England today at Lord’s where they hold a strong record of having only lost once at the ground since 1934.

Team: Shane Watson, Chris Rogers, Usman Khawaja, Michael Clarke (c), Steve Smith, Phil Hughes, Brad Haddin, Ashton Agar, Peter Siddle, James Pattinson, Ryan Harris.
