"There's no 'e' in Sachin" - MS Dhoni points out CAB's mistake!
The Cricket Association of Bengal suffered a huge embarrassment when the Indian cricket team captain, MS Dhoni, pointed out that one of the banners above the scoreboard at the Eden Gardens spelled Sachin Tendulkar‘s name wrongly. The banner had an additional “e” in Sachin.
While entering the ground MS Dhoni pointed out the mistake and remarked, “Pehle ye batao Sachin ki naam ki spelling galat kisne likhi? (First answer this: who wrote Sachin’s spelling wrong?)”
It was moment of huge embarrassment for the CAB, who have gone the full nine yards in the preparation of the celebrations of Sachin Tendulkar’s 199th Test match to be held from the 6th of November, 2013 in Kolkata.
The CAB treasurer Biswarup Dey, however, tried to cover up the mistake and explained, “It is not the skipper’s job to see to this. The error is the responsibility of the agency that was handling the banners. We have issued a showcause notice to the agency. And the banner will be changed.”
This is perhaps the biggest series in terms of celebrations and such mistakes might tarnish the reputation of the board in charge of it.
“What’s in a name?” they said but when the name’s Sachin Tendulkar, there’s a lot to it!
