This bowling attack of the Indian cricket team is the best in the world, says Chaminda Vaas
What’s the story?
Former Sri Lankan pace bowler Chaminda Vaas has said that the Indian bowling attack can no longer be underestimated and that are one of the better units leading into the Champions Trophy.
Vaas has said that the pace quartet of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah is currently the best in the world.
“The main thing is fitness level. They are strong, bowling quick, learning fast from their games and are very consistent. I think this is the best group of fast bowlers in the world. India will produce more such fast bowlers as they play more matches in IPL and other tournaments,” Vaas said on the sidelines of a promotional event.
The Details
Vaas singled out young Jasprit Bumrah and said that he is a great prospect for India and has been very impressive in his short career so far. He praised the duo of Lasith Malinga and Shane Bond and said that any strategy formulated by them would be implemented by Bumrah on the field perfectly.
Also, he believed that the young Baroda bowler has just started and there is still a long way to go before he becomes a complete article, but the fact that he is willing to learn is a heartening sign for India in the near future.
In case you didn’t know...
Bumrah has been one of the shining light in the Mumbai Indians’ campaign and has shown great maturity in the way he handled pressure and this surfaced in the way he bowled the super over against the Gujarat Lions.
Also, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been one of the stellar performers this year and is currently wearing the purple cap. He has been brilliant with the new ball and then has come back with the older ball to nail his yorkers perfectly.
What's next?
India will start their Champions Trophy campaign against Pakistan on June 4 and would hope their bowlers come out all guns blazing against the arch rivals at Edgbaston.
It would be interesting to see the combination Virat Kohli would field in the first match. The conditions in England would assist swing and seam and hence the potency of the Indian bowling attack will increase.

Also, this statement is not any random observation, but it is a well-thought out one as the Indian bowling attack has taken massive strides in the recent years and hence this confidence-boosting statement ticks all the boxes.
